Abstract:
Using daily precipitation data from 50 principal weather stations over Fujian from 1960 to 2010, we analysized the spatial and temporal variation trends of extreme precipitation events over Fujian Province. The results show that there are significant differences in the spatial distribution of the extreme precipitation events. The multi-year mean annual extreme precipitation threshold and amount are larger in the middle-southern coast of Fujian than other regions, but the annual-mean extreme precipitation frequency is larger in central-northern Fujian than other regions. The regional average of annual extreme precipitation frequency, amount, intensity, and the daily maximum amount all show that a linear increasing trend is statistically significant. M-K test shows the mutation time was in 1996 for extreme precipitation frequency, amount and daily maximum amount, and in 2002 for extreme precipitation intensity.
