Abstract:
In order to improve the timeliness and accuracy of typhoon prevention and mitigation operations in Guangxi, using ecological remote sensing background data, socio-economic spatial data and geographic information data in Guangxi in 2010, we have established a vulnerability evaluation index series for the hazard bearing bodies of typhoon disaster by coupling natural ecosystem and society economy based on the natural disaster risk assessment theory and methods. Then we have designed an appropriate evaluation model based on GIS, and accomplished the elaborate evaluation of typhoon disaster vulnerability for the hazard bearing bodies in Guangxi with a cell scale. The results show that most of the high vulnerability areas of typhoon-hazard bearing bodies are located in the southern and southeastern of Guangxi, occupying 25.9% of the Autonomous Region, where are mostly construction land of high exposure to typhoon, farmland of ecological vulnerability and bare land of serious soil erosion. Most of the low vulnerability areas are found in the eastern, northeastern, northwestern and western region of Guangxi, accounting for 45.6% of the Autonomous Region, where are mostly mountain areas with backward social economy and relatively high vegetation coverage.
